River Eden: Pendragon
The Pendragon stretch of the Eden is the uppermost stretch of water
controlled by Kirkby Stephen and District Angling Association. It
stretches from Pendragon Castle down to below Dalefoot. The river
here is set amid remote and stunning scenery. It offers fly fishing
for wild brown trout. These upper reaches of our fishing are rocky
and uneven, with some very interesting water including many small
waterfalls and deep pools. The middle section of this stretch is
the best but it is fairly inaccessible and difficult to fish. It
is definitely not for the faint hearted!. Fish numbers have declined
over the years but there is no doubt that some very large specimens
still lurk in the various depths and small fish are still in evidence.
This part of the river has never been stocked and is rarely fished.
