Eden at Easter

I spent a day on the Eden at Easter, Saturday the 15th. A lovely day but the fishing was tough. Fished upstream of Musgrave bridge with plenty of fly life around but little rising. Following hopeful dry fly fishing with little success I resorted to spider patterns, which resulted in 2 lively10" brownies caught beneath the Belah.

The early afternoon seemed perfect conditions for fishing, however the rise was not forthcoming when midday rises used to be common early in the season.

I must stress the wildlife seen - redshanks, sandpipers, grey wagtails, kingfishers plus numerous songbirds, along with a red squirrel along the northern banks.

Met a Canadian couple back at the bridge. He was getting ready to fish. Discussed the fishing and the Eden in general, the web site was the main motivation for coming to this beat!
