Grayling

Contributed by Brian Kirkwood (25.11.2003)

I have fished several sessions through October and into November for grayling mainly between Warcop bridge and Musgrave.

The fish are there and willing to take a variety of offerings... goldheads, waterhen bloa and small dry's. Around noon most days there has been a rise to medium olives but the quality of fish has been poor. Most were around the 6 to 8oz mark or smaller.

Both weather and water have been kind to anglers but no good for the lady of the stream. Perhaps the larger fish will move in when we get a sustained cold spell.

As a footnote quite a few trout have been caught (accidentally). All were in excellent condition and of a good size.
